Surf City Waterpark is set to Make Waves in 2016

Ellensburg, WA - March 9, 2015 -- Talked about for years as though it's a (sub)urban legend, this Ellensburgdevelopment, Surf City Waterpark & Lodge, is coming to life! Signs of dirt being moved and ditches beinglaid at the south interchange with I-90 in Ellensburg are indicative that the project is taking shape. Soon, every car (over 9 million cars per year) driving this stretch will see Surf City's slide tower glowing from I-90.

Lakeside Town Center LLC principal, and well known Ellensburg developer, Gene Martin, has passionatelychampioned this project for years. Bringing Washington the largest indoor waterpark west of the Mississippi,Gene has assembled a team of industry leaders to cross the finish line in 2016. The collaboration ofarchitect-Benny Kim, Coastal Hotel Group, The Pool Company Inc., Swinerton Builders and Water TechnologyInc. are transforming the waterpark from concepts to concrete. With the infrastructure complete and thepermitting phase initiated, construction is on schedule to begin by early summer.

The 117,000 + square foot indoor waterpark, with an adjacent 215-room hotel will specialize in wateradventures appealing to tots, teens, college students and beyond. Having a modern, natural, tropicalatmosphere, the different areas of the park will be themed as major surf destinations around the world (e.g.Surfer's Paradise - Australia, North Shore - Oahu, Hawaii, Cloud Break - Fiji). The centerpiece of the 84-degree, year-round park will be the first deep-water surf machine in the United States. At the click of an iPad,this surf machine puts up perfect waves for beginners to professional surfers, boogie-boarders, body-surfersand kayakers alike. Guests will also enjoy the massive wave pool, 4 person raft ride, tube slides, mat racerslide, aqua loop thrill ride, children's play structure, toddler pool, sport pool and 2 hot tubs.

The owner's group, self-described "foodies," promise that Surf City will offer high-quality, reasonably pricedfood options that will include a juice bar, cafe, and restaurant & bar that overlook "Surfer's Paradise" and thesurf machine. They are emphatic that this will not be "theme-park food." In fact, if you are passing byEllensburg on I-90, but don't have time to surf, you might just stop in for a great meal and a craft beer.

This adventure destination, just 1.5 hours east of Seattle, will offer day passes for day-trippers and for thosethat choose to "stay and play" there will be themed rooms and a full-service lodge. Overnight guests canhangout at the arcade, take in a "drive-in movie," or play the park's own action game.

With a population of 18,000 people, and home of Central Washington University, the city of Ellensburg isstoked about hosting Surf City and the economic benefits it will bring to town. During the 14 monthconstruction phase 140 full time jobs will be needed. Once Surf City opens it's doors, the local communitywill benefit from the creation of 200 full time jobs to support the facility, thousands of toursists and the taxdollars generated along the way.

By offering great food, drinks and a full spectrum of park attractions, Surf City vows to offer a greatexperience for all ages. No sharks, no riptides and plenty of surf patrol to give you guidance and watch yourback. Check out surfcitywaterpark.com and give them a "like" on Facebook.
