There are three large state parks near Ellensburg -- Lake Easton, Olmstead Place and the Ginkgo Petrified Forest/Wanapum Recreational Area.  Discover the picturesque mountain views and explore the scenic hiking trails. Come for a restful afternoon or spend a few days camping.

Ellensburg Memorial Park and City Pool

Located at Chestnut and 6th avenue, Memorial Park provides picnic shelters and tables, a barbecue grill, children's playground, horseshoe pits, basketball, and a large open turf area. The facility is equipped with a weight room, sauna, Jacuzzi, Olympic-size pool and wading pool. (509) 962-7211. The park is adjacent to the pool.

The city's parks boast amenities such as volleyball courts, barbecue facilities, hiking and biking trails, ponds, softball, baseball and soccer fields, children's play structures, basketball courts, skateboarding ramps, and more.
Ellensburg Racquet & Recreation Center
3 heated indoor tennis courts, 3 racquetball courts, and a fitness/weight room. Men & women's locker rooms with saunas. Recreational activities including birthday parties, Tiny Tots Sports for children 3-5 years old, In-Line Hockey, Indoor Playground and indoor senior walking. Located at 6061 Vantage Highway.
Ginkgo Petrified Forest/Wanapum Recreational Area
Ellensburg, WA 98926
The Ginkgo Petrified Forest/Wanapum Recreational Area is 30 miles east of Ellensburg, along the shores of the Columbia River, and situated on 7,470 acres. It is open to camping and day use on weekends and holidays. The expansive park has three miles of hiking, freshwater fishing, a boat ramp, waterskiing, and a museum.
Helen McCabe Park / Interpretive Trail
This day-use only park facility and interpretive trail was created by the Kittitas Environmental Education Network (KEEN) in 2006. The trail loops around McCabe pond (a popular fishing spot) and offers family fun, a learning experience and mostly year-round access. Interpretive brochures are available at the self-serve information bulletin board located at the beginning of the trail. Follow Main St. south, it will turn into Canyon Road. Continue for about 5 miles. The State Park is located just past Thrall Road on the left hand side. Signs are posted.
Kiwanis Park

Lake Easton State Park

Positioned on the shores of Lake Easton in the Cascade Mountain foothills, relax and recreate year-round at Lake Easton State Park. Discover the picturesque mountain views and explore the scenic hiking trails. Come for a restful afternoon or spend a few days camping.

Olmstead Place State Park

Olmstead Place is located on 217 acres and is the site of the first Kittitas Valley homestead. It has one mile of hiking, freshwater fishing, a museum, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.

You will discover a great birds-eye view of Ellensburg, the Ellensburg Rodeo arena, Kittitas County Fairgrounds, Central Washington University's campus, the Kittitas Valley and the Stuart Mountain Range. Located on the Westside of Craig's Hill there is the Sagebrush Trail to explore. During the winter kids can be seen sledding down the hills in this area. Head east on Third Avenue from Main St. Follow until you reach Maple St. Turn left and then turn onto Craig Avenue. Follow Craig Avenue northeast. The park will be at the top of Craig's Hill and across from the American Legion building.
Rotary Park
Picnic shelter, two children's playground structures, restrooms, 4 youth baseball fields, 2 full sized softball fields, 2 full sized baseball fields, walking/bike trail which connects to Irene Rinehart Park, and 15 acres of multi-purpose turf area. Located at 900 West Third Avenue.
2nd and Pearl St | Ellensburg, WA 98926
Ramps, jumps and rails for skate boarders. Located at 2nd and Pearl St and across from the Police Station.
